Week 4 - Composition

This is a 15 minute drawing. This vantage point is good because of the the good composition, because it has an implied line going from the pepper through the rectangle object to the glass and lemon which is appealing to the eye. Also, there is a a good sense of light and dark value in this composition and also a sense of balance. Good detail has been put into this in terms of the highlights which are on the pepper and lemon as the light source is coming from the left.

It feels as though something is missing or maybe that it is too simple. Maybe a drapery would have helped with composition and complexion. The drawing is not complete because the rectangular object seems like it has been drawn from a different perspective. However, good tonal values and composition.

Week 3 - Light & Shade

Above, it can be seen; the source of light is casting from the far top right side which develops the shade in on front of the egg. The values of the dark and light shading are quite good and it can be seen that the light must be very far away for the shade to be much of a longer length. Although, the dark and light values are brilliant; somethings seems to be missing from the sketch, it could be the background is is not visible and that it would give much more of a lively look.

This is a 35 minute drawing of  a draped sheets drawn with 2B pencil which should have been done with a charcoal but charcoals make me cringe, literally. (hate the texture & noise of it). Anyway, the light source is shone from right and there are different values on the sheet. This drawing has a great sense of depth and for that reason it looks 3D on a 2D piece of paper. There are highlights on the drawing more on the right on where the light is shone and the mid tone towards the right side and the dark tone on the right and on the far right is the cast shadow.

Week 2 - Mass & Form

What you see here is a contour drawing; the composition of the objects is not that very pleasing as the vase is right in the middle of the composition. A better position could have been chosen rather than this dull, unappealing shown above, also the mouth of the jug on the left looks a bit like it has been looked at the wrong perspective. The difference between the two images are that the first one is only contour and second is with form.

The vase in the middle is the focal point clearly because it's right in the middle which should have been somewhere towards the left or the right however, the spherical object and jugs are the area of interests. What can also be seen is an implied line coming from the jug on the left, along the the spherical objects, just towards the small object on the right.

The outline is not that very great on the quadratic object and the spherical shapes are not that spherical. However, the shading looks quite OK.There's also a balance coming from the composition of these objects which is struck right from the middle of the drawing; as the vase and the glass objects are balancing each other out which should make it appealing to the eye. The values are not completed, the drapery that should have been there is not visible.
